Minister Ng to travel to Singapore and visit Indonesia

By Caribbean News Global fav

OTTAWA, Canada – Mary Ng, minister of international trade, export promotion, small business and economic development, will visit Singapore on October 7 and 8 to attend Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Commission meetings.

The minister will be joined by counterparts from other CPTPP economies, including Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

“Minister Ng will continue to promote Canada’s interests in diversifying trade with key markets around the world, and supporting an effective, open, inclusive and rules-based global trading system. Canada participates actively in the CPTPP at all levels to advance work towards implementation and expansion of the Agreement through the accession of new members, and will also be visiting Jakarta, Indonesia, on October 10-12, where she will be meeting with Indonesian government partners and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) officials and to bolster Canada’s trade and investment relations in the Indo-Pacific region,” said media relations office, Global Affairs Canada.

Minister Ng will also be engaging with businesses, including women entrepreneurs, to advance bilateral trade and commercial relationships and discuss progress on Canada-Indonesia CEPA negotiations and Canada-ASEAN FTA negotiations.

“Throughout these meetings, minister Ng will focus on advancing Canada’s trade diversification strategy and economic resilience, while also advocating for the strengthening of a rules-based international trade system. This year marks the 70th anniversary of Canada-Indonesia diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of Canada-ASEAN partner relations,” said Global Affairs Canada.
