HILLSDALE, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hillsdale College announces its newest online teaching series, “Supply-Side Economics and American Prosperity with Art Laffer.” The free teaching series, released August 23, is taught by award-winning economist Dr. Art Laffer, who is joined by Brian Domitrovic, Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, Stephen Moore, Amity Shlaes, and Dr. Larry P. Arnn, to teach the fundamentals of macroeconomic theory.
“We are excited to have Dr. Laffer teach this subject. He has closely studied America’s economic history, especially in the last 100 years since the advent of the income tax,” says Kyle Murnen, director of Online Learning. “Dr. Laffer is a serious and influential economist who helped shape the economic policies that ended the stagflation of the 1970s and put America on a path to economic prosperity.”
In 2019, Laffer received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President Trump observed that Laffer “proved that the most powerful way to grow the economy and raise government revenue was not to increase tax rates but to adopt strong incentives that unleash the power of human freedom and innovate, create jobs, and deliver greater opportunity to all Americans. And he’s proved it over and over again.”
Lauded as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics,” Laffer explains his economic theory and the eponymous Laffer Curve in this brand-new teaching series that combines the best of an online course with the dynamism of a documentary.
“Students will be thrilled by this new teaching experience from Hillsdale College,” said Juan Davalos, director of online learning marketing. “The Online Learning team has created a teaching experience that is not only deeply informative, but also incredibly engaging.”
“Supply-Side Economics” examines the five kingdoms of macroeconomics: taxes, government spending, regulations, sound money, and trade. The eight-episode series includes lessons on the following topics:
- the Laffer Curve
- a history of the last century of taxation in America
- income inequality
- why some states prosper while others don’t
- the consequences of redistribution
- trade, debts, and deficits
- Dr. Laffer’s recommendations to unleash economic prosperity again
