“Taiwan companies currently operating in the United States support 19,100 jobs, invest almost $159 million annually in R&D, and contribute $1.6 billion to US goods exports. The total stock of FDI from Taiwan companies was $47 billion, per the latest data available at the end 2019,” AIT continued.
Earlier this month United States and Taiwan announce the launch of the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade.
Deputy United States Trade Representative Sarah Bianchi and Taiwan minister-without-portfolio John Deng met virtually under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO). In coordination with AIT and TECRO, the two sides launched the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade, which is intended to develop concrete ways to deepen the economic and trade relationship, advance mutual trade priorities based on shared values, and promote innovation and inclusive economic growth for our workers and businesses.
Hosted by US Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo, notable speakers presenting at the conference include Cabinet members, US governors, thought leaders and C-suite executives from US and global companies.
