Taiwan congratulates Australia on conclusion of its federal election

By Caribbean News Global fav

TAIPEI, Taiwan – The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) extends sincere congratulations to Australia on the successful conclusion of its federal election on May 21, says a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (MOFA).

Based on current results, the Australian Labor Party, led by MP Anthony Albanese, will be forming a new government.

In a press release, MOFA said:

“Taiwan and Australia are like-minded partners that share the common values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. In recent years, Australia has continued to support Taiwan’s participation in international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), and it has emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

“Taiwan and Australia are also key economic partners. The two countries enjoy increasingly close cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, science and technology, education, culture, and agriculture. Indeed, substantive progress has been evident in all areas in the past few years.”

The R.O.C. (Taiwan) government noted that it “will work with the new Australian government on the existing strong foundation to deepen cordial and cooperative ties across all fields based on mutual trust, mutual benefit, and reciprocity, to jointly advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.”
