WASHINGTON, USA – The new Permanent Representative of Nicaragua, Orlando Tardencilla, presented his credentials Friday to the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.
Secretary-General Almagro thanked ambassador Tardencilla for his presence at the OAS and his pro-dialogue stance, while expressing the urgent need to resolve the political crisis in the Central American country.
“We want to make clear the urgent need to strengthen institutions in Nicaragua in order to reach a consensus on a way out towards the establishment of a full democracy,” said the OAS secretary-general.
For his part, ambassador Tardencilla expressed his country’s peaceful vocation and said that he would participate in the OAS debates to “maintain our criteria and establish our truths in the light of God”.
“We are here to carry the voice of those who cannot come from the depths of the mountains and cities of Nicaragua to express this vocation for peace, but also for dignity and respect,” added the Nicaraguan diplomat.
Nicaragua is a founding Member State of the OAS.
