CZECH REPUBLIC / TAIWAN – The Czech government has announced the government program, which emphasized the foreign policy that will strengthen cooperation with Taiwan and other Indo-Pacific democratic partners. The content of this policy program covers the policy direction and blueprint of the Czech government in various fields.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said it welcomes this and is pleased to see Taiwan-Czech relations continue to deepen, develop mutually beneficial bilateral relations, and jointly safeguard democracy.
In terms of diplomacy, it will be based on good relations with the EU, NATO and neighbouring countries, follow the “Havil” foreign policy tradition, and promote partnerships with democratic countries. In foreign relations, the “Visegrad Group” (V4), Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, and other democratic partners in the Indo-Pacific region, such as Taiwan, India, Japan, and South Korea, are listed as key countries for cooperation.
MOFA stated that Taiwan-Czech relations have always been close and friendly, and the two countries have established a partnership based on shared values such as freedom, democracy and respect for human rights. During the last (2021) election campaign, the Czech ruling coalition included deepening its relations with Taiwan in its election platform, and this time it was included in the leadership of the government network, which specifically shows the importance it attaches to the development of relations between the two countries.
At the end of October last year, Gong Mingxin, chairman of the National Development Committee, led the “Central and Eastern European Economic and Trade and Investment Mission” to visit the Czech Republic with fruitful results. The two sides signed a total of five MOUs in the fields of cyber security, space cooperation, catalyst technology, green energy, and smart machinery. […] “
MOFA reiterated that it will “work closely with various ministries and associations to enhance the democratic partnership with the Czech Republic, and promote all-round cooperation and interaction in the fields of economy and trade, investment, science and technology, epidemic prevention, information security, education and culture. painting”.
