Belize – IDB partners with globally renowned Le Wagon to tackle digital skills gaps

BELIZE BELMOPAN, Belize – The government of Belize, through the Economic Development Council, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Compete Caribbean Partnership Facility (CCPF) – funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, the Caribbean Development Bank, and the government of Canada – today, announce a partnership with Le Wagon, a world-leading coding school, to launch a data analysis training bootcamp targeting Belizean youths.

This bootcamp is a part-time training to be delivered over 14 weeks and will equip students with the requisite skills to future-fit professions across the globe. Le Wagon’s peer-to-peer approach and immersive, hands-on learning methods build necessary soft and digital technical skills that employers increasingly require and the new world of work, giving each student a human and social adventure with mutual aid between learners, constant exchanges with the 10,000 alumni across 40 campuses worldwide and a vast number of events organized within the host country’s tech ecosystem.

The program will distribute a limited number of scholarships to any interested Belizean citizen over the age of 18, and there are no prerequisites. Interested persons must apply through the website and undergo a selection process.

The partnership reflects the commitment to develop Belizean talent via internationally recognized and successful education models that bolster key competitive 21st-century skills. With a steadfast focus on driving the employability of young people in Belize, the boot camp will enable students to secure roles at tech and digital companies.
