GreenPath and Homeownership Preservation Foundation Launch 995Hope Website Providing Timely Services to Protect Households

Website shares housing counseling, financial education resources for people looking to stabilize their finances and homeownership

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#COVID19GreenPath Financial Wellness, a national nonprofit that provides financial counseling and debt management services, and its affiliate Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF), recently launched the 995hope.org website which provides information to help renters and homeowners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic manage through financial challenges.

It is estimated there are nearly 3 million U.S. households in forbearance due to the COVID crisis.1 The easy-to-use website is a good first step for people to begin a conversation with Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-certified counselors about their housing needs. Homeowners, renters and others facing financial challenges can navigate through information about rental counseling, how to identify foreclosure prevention scams, prepare for home buying, obtain reverse mortgage assistance, manage the homeownership lifecycle and receive other key information designed to increase financial wellness.

“Homeowners looking to understand how to successfully navigate the end of temporary relief programs can make the best decisions with trusted information,” Kristen Holt, president and CEO, GreenPath Financial Wellness. “The new 995hope.org website offers resources to make sense of home financing, foreclosure prevention, rental counseling and more to set people up to understand options.”

Homeownership Preservation Foundation has a long-standing track record of providing trusted housing counseling through the 888-995-HOPE Hotline. GreenPath and HPF have assisted nine million distressed borrowers since the 2008 housing crisis. During the onset of the pandemic, there was a 50 percent increase in hotline calls from homeowners and renters faced with reduced income and other COVID-related financial challenges. The https://995hope.org/ website is a gateway resource to help serve those seeking information.
