Antigua – Barbuda long-stay visa initiative to be launched

ST JOHNS, Antigua –  The government of Antigua and Barbuda long-stay visa initiative to grant eligible persons a special resident authorization that will be valid for up to two years in the first instance is another excellent opportunity to work remotely, [in a reliable and fast telecommunications network environment] live in a unique setting, and play from a safe Caribbean island where 365 beaches along 95 miles of coastline – and ‘your space in the sun‘ is just the beginning.

According to the World Economic Forum, it is estimated that approximately 50 percent of “information workers” in the United States (US) are presently working remotely. Companies in Europe with a work from home policy are at a high of 88 percent, up from 4 percent that was reported prior to the health crisis.

The Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Regulations 2014, established the Regulations regarding citizenship by investment in Antigua and Barbuda are contained in Section 6 of the Citizenship by Investment Act, 2014. Holders of the Antigua and Barbuda passport enjoy visa-free travel to approximately 150 countries, including the UK and the countries of the Schengen area.

Antigua and Barbuda citizenship by investment unit new fee structure for its University of the West Indies (UWI) Fund option, took effect May 11, 2020. A family of six will contribute US$150,000 inclusive of processing fees. Each additional family member US$15,000 is payable. Customary due diligence fees are payable and 20 percent commission payable on each file.

Antigua and Barbuda is an independent Commonwealth state in the Eastern Caribbean. With some 365 beaches of clean turquoise waters, the lush tropical islands of Antigua and Barbuda are an inviting paradise and considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Tourism is the key driver of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates around 60 percent of the island’s income, with key target markets being the US, Canada, and Europe.

Recently, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority Working with McCann Demand, the campaign, ‘Your Space in the Sun’, invites people to discover a different kind of social distancing, thanks to its 365 beaches along 95 miles of coastline.

Colin James, chief executive of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority said: “Our islands have 365 beaches, an expanse of blue sea, and panoramic sunsets every night but broadly speaking, our awareness remains relatively low. At a time when people are dreaming of being able to escape, we want to inspire people to broaden their horizons and consider Antigua and Barbuda for when they are ready to plan their next trip.”
