HomeServe HVAC Segment Continues Expansion with Acquisition of Freedom Heating and Cooling in Birmingham, Alabama

NORWALK, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of service plans, repair and installation services for the home, today announced the acquisition of Birmingham, Alabama-based Worry Free Comfort Systems, Inc., known locally as Freedom Heating and Cooling (Freedom). Freedom is HomeServe’s first HVAC acquisition in Alabama.

Freedom, which has an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, has been serving residential customers in northern Alabama since 2003. Started with his Dad, John Johnson, and currently operated by Don Johnson, the Freedom team, and the superior leadership of Quintin Lundy, Freedom excels at meeting its customers’ heating, cooling and plumbing installation, maintenance and repair needs.

“Freedom’s impressive commitment to high-quality service is among the many things that led us to bring them into the HomeServe family. Currently they serve customers throughout Jefferson County, the most populous county in the state, as well as neighboring counties, and we are excited to partner with them to help them accelerate their growth,” commented HomeServe North America CEO John Kitzie.

This is HomeServe’s first acquisition in the southeastern U.S., second overall in 2020, and HomeServe’s eighth acquisition in the trades since 2017. HomeServe’s locally branded companies now operate in Alabama, Arizona, Maryland, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia.

“I’m excited that Don, his wife Bonnie, and the entire Freedom team of more than 50 employees are now part of HomeServe.
