ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) concluded Wednesday in Antigua and Barbuda with a bold programme to boost trade, investment and prosperity across the 56 member countries. Hosted by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, the summit was chaired by prime minister Gaston Browne.
Leaders met over two days under the theme ‘Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth’, in a revamped CHOGM that saw more than 3,000 delegates converge in St John’s, the capital.
The Commonwealth Ministerial Meeting on Small States and the Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting were held on 1 and 2 November, respectively, to shape the agenda ahead of leaders’ deliberations.
In parallel forums, women, young people, civil society representatives and business leaders shared their perspectives and recommendations to help inform the final communiqué, which was issued at the close of the summit. Notably, CHOGM 2026 saw half a billion US dollars raised in new commitments for a range of initiatives, including renewable energy, skills development for young people, and new opportunities for trade and growth.
